Good luck my boy, good info
Thanks, you too!
Great tips Dan. I agree, people should never 100% commit to an exact location-at least not until they’ve lived there for 6 months or so.
@Vagabond Awake Haha Yes, couldn’t agree more. Places and people.
Yes, and date a few places before living happily ever after.
BECAUSE YOU DO NOT ACCEPT YOUR DREAMS.I LOVE THE PHILIPPINES.
ACCEPT YOUR PLACE IN YOUR PARADISE. FIND A NICE WOMAN TO LIVE WITH AND LIVE WITHIN YOUR BUDGET.
Well played Don.
Philippines is perfect, has everything on my list.
What a great series of comments. You guys are all amazing. Jeff, WS, Felipe, and Mark.
i have an aging parent in the philippines so what better way to have quality time, there are chinese temples loads of churches, where we live the beach is not very far and i get to bathe in a river, waterfalls and hot springs an hour away
no temples and the food is not the same as Thailand or Vietnam but it does have some great things.
Be careful. No place is perfect. The key is understanding that and keeping your expectations in check.
Good video. And good advice.
Glad it was helpful!
There are so many things to consider when choosing a place to retire. Im my research I narrowed it down to Thailand and the Philippines. I visited both, I chose the Philippines. It is so close to other countries in SE Asia that it is both cheap to fly and there isn’t a long flight time. The best of both worlds for me…..
Very nice. Visit first and then decide. Way more knowledge than available on the couch. Best, Dan
Great tips to consider. Thank you for sharing your gifts to us. 2024 our magic number to have the taste of life like yours. Hope the new vaccine works. Thriving Humans still alive and right Politicians in place then.๐คฃ๐โฅ๏ธ
I hope so too!
I love Philippines because I can converse in english with 99.99% of the population! And I don’t have to speak in fucking sign languages to grown ass adults to ask where the nearest ATM machine and convenience store is! I was in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam before Philippines and talking to those meatheads are like talking to my 5 year old! Philippines for life baby!!
Pooping quickly is an important quality. ๐ Thanks for commenting Joe know. Dan
Dan – I know that the videos weren’t designed for this exact purpose, but I want to thank you for the mental health benefit of armchair travel during these difficult times. I look forward to quite a few of your videos every day during the lock down. By the way, you could not have a lovelier girlfriend. Home is where the heart is. No wonder you feel at home everywhere in the world with such companionship. Best wishes and thank you again.
You are a wise man Jim.
Great job Dan, you make it easy for so many people to retire. Keep up the good work. moss
Thanks ๐ Moss. By watching you are helping our mission. Thanks, Dan
Good video and a lot of good advice. We personally have a few options in the Philippines (if things ever get back to normal) and should be spending at least our colder Canadian months there within the next couple of years. The family home in a small town in the province of Iloilo is one option and the other is our condo in San Fernando Pampanga once construction’s completed.
In any case I think we’re looking at around 6 month minimum before we get back over there again. With what’s happening to the world economy now 6 months is probably a huge under estimate.
@Vagabond Awake Hi Dan, I subscribed the other day. I’m enjoying your videos and look forward to watching more.
I think when you get to Iloilo you’ll find it to be one of the nicest places, and as always with very friendly people. Take care, … Tim
Cool Semi, Iloilo is on our path too when they open the province. By commenting you helped our business. Feel free to subscribe to if you haven’t already. Best, Dan
Hello Dan, I just found your channel. I want to ask about Mexico if I leave the US do need a visa before I leave or I don’t need until the 180 days I have been there? When do I need the visa? # 2 I am a budget traveler so is Hostel for Senior or what is the budget way to go as for as a place to stay. I don’t know but what if I am there 180 days? This is confusing because this is my first trip and I am taking notes I may be going by bus.
The Will, Dean is an expert in the Americas … as much or more than me. Great answer Dean. Check out all my reports om Mexico, best places and how to travel there for cheap. Here they are: https://vagabondbuddha.com/
Best, Dan
Going by bus to enter is a mistake. You have to walk across the border and then find the bus station. If you enter Mexico by land you must pay an approximate $50 entrance fee for your tourist card. Traveling around Mexico by bus is ok later on, plus the border areas are not as safe. If you fly in with a US or Canadian passport you get 180 days without asking, no visa in advance is necessary. The budget airlines in Mexico are almost as cheap as the bus for domestic travel. So this depends on where you live where you would enter. Use airbnb.com for lodging in most places! Hostel for Senior? I never saw one in Mexico. You need to do alot of investigation, you don’t seem like a good candidate for solo travel!
This is a great video Dan always informative!!!
Glad you think so Danny! Your comments help our business grow. Thanks! Dan
Thank you for the beautiful pictures taken from your travel. I believe the best retirement destination is to have no destination at all, but keep traveling!
Your comments help our business grow, so thanks Dean! Are you thinking of settling down or are you going to keep traveling? Best, Dan
I totally agree Mark! Your comments help our business grow, so thanks! Dan
Gipsy Dean It is in our gene to be nomadic. Settlement dulls our spirit!
Why?
Hi I just discovered your channel your video about 800 hundred a month is interesting my plan is one thousand Canadian dollars a month my wife owns her own house and I don’t ever plan on driving down there we have no kids plus we are married so no visa fees I am truly happy in life hiking watching tv eating and drinking at home living a basic lifestyle what are your thoughts keep up the great videos

Hi, have you ever been to Itoshima in Japan? Stunning beaches, mountains, fresh affordable food and surprisingly cheap rent.
Next time! So far only Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nara. Your comments help our business grow, so thanks! Dan
Because of seasonal weather deviations, no place is perfect, so consider migrating between two or more locations. With some countries you can just change your elevation for a change in climate when it gets too hot at the coastal areas. These ‘Retire cheap in Paradise’ countries include: Vietnam, The Philippines, Colombia, Ecuador, Central America and my top pick Mexico. Any others Dan?
Hi Dean, thanks for sharing your top picks! I met Dean online when we were both in Mexico. He is an expert in the Americas. I think you nailed it Dean. I have my reports here, by the way: https://vagabondbuddha.com/
We should do a call sometime Dean? We could talk about our favorites in the Americas? Send me an email if that sounds fun. Plus, we could share your youtube channel with people so they could see some of your great work. Best, Dan

I would love your advice on the subject. I am just a dude using his handsfree. Thanks for commenting Life. Dan
good stuff, Dan. Hope You’re Livin the Dream! ๐ All the best.
Thanks! You too!
Serious question. We love Roatan, Honduras, its practically perfect. However while we were there, we got eaten up by “sand fleas”whenever we were in a sandy area. Do the Philippines have them or something similar?
Those Sand Fleas got me in Peru. Bummer. Haven’t seem those here Marc.
