Watch Your Medications in the Philippines

One of the biggest changes that affected me when I moved to the Philippines was with my high blood pressure medications. The first day I arrived here I was taken down to the family business “The Cool Zone Internet Cafe” and within about 15 minutes of arriving there I passed out. No one could figure out what was the problem everything look ed OK except my bood pressuer. It turned out my medications were too strong for the Philippines, which I thought was strange since I never had any problems like that in the US. So I purchased new medications and went from 20 mg to 10 mg cutting it in half, which fixed my situation for two years. I lived in Bogo City northern Cebu from April 2004 untly October 2006, then we moved to Texas for four years. After that I once again returned to the Philippines and had a couple more passing out episodes all of them with blood pressuer too low. 40/80 and 60/80. I have now cut my 10 mg pills in half again and doing fairly well now. The last time I passed out the hospital ran a whole battery of tests and the doctor told me that he did not know why I had passed out. The reports stated my pressure was 110/80 Well I know then what the problem was Normally my pressure is much higher than 110 more like 130 or more. I told the doctor I had overdosed on blood pressure medications, therefore I cut the 10 mg pills in half and only take half and doing fine. So I have gone from 20 mg to 5 mg from the move half way around the world.

Conclusion – Watch your medications here, and if you have passing out episodes your medications may be too strong. If there are any doctors out there that may know why it makes a difference once you move here please let me know.
