Today Gift and I visit the Ancient City of Siam with friends. I could have made this video 4 hours long because there are so many beautiful things to see. I highly recommend a visit to the Ancient City of Siam if you are ever in the Bangkok area. Easy to get to using public transportation such as the BTS and taxi. Also the entry fee seems to be much cheaper on line. https://thesmartlocal.com/thailand/ancient-city-thailand/

Highlights of Samut Prakan Ancient City
The grounds mimic the precise shape of Thailand, with sections divided into the Northern Region, North-eastern Region, Central Region, Southern Region, and Suvarnabhumi. Throughout the park, you’ll find over 115 significant structures of Thailand, including chedis, palaces, bell towers, pavilions, temples, halls, floating markets, Buddha images and shrines.
A garden of stupas at Samut Prakan Ancient City reveals how deep-rooted Buddhism is in Thai culture. A recreation of an Ayutthaya-era theatre pavilion showcases the artistic grandeur of the time, with elaborately carved and gilded motifs. The serene Garden of the Gods presents a lively 3-dimensional tableau of Hindu deities Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva cast in bronze.
@MrChumpusI am so sorry to hear about the current situation my friend, my thoughts and prayers to everyone impacted. I hope and pray that things get better real soon. Stay safe! All the best!
Very nice and peaceful, would definitely like to visit. You two are looking well, see you soon we hope, Michael & Sharon
Thank you π my friend. See you guys soon. Stay safe! All the best!
Nice upload mate. Lat na moo looked real good. All the best. Enjoying your content. Subscribed.
Thank you π so much for the sub my friend, greatly appreciated. Stay safe! All the best!
Interesting place to visit but it must have changed a lot since I was there 20 years ago.
Nothing like a worldwide panic. Stay safe, but don’t believe the hype. Great video. $10 for all that food. WOW.
Thanks Joe we enjoyed your video showing us the ancient city, unbelievable how much to see in Thailand π΄πΊπ΄
Great update JOe thanks for the video
VERY Nice Joe,, It was a Pleasure to hang around with you two wonderful people for the day. Im Jealous of your video editing skills You are good !! Say Hi To Gift for us and keep in touch,,, Randy + Boom !
Did you find any Thai gold paint ? I suspect it contains real gold.
such a beautiful place…..and I still haven’t been there. Does Gift know you’re checking out other women and saying…”very nice”? 5555 I’m suuuuure you were talking about the temple π
In the UK the government’s direction is not to travel unless you have too! Thai govt canceled visa on arrival. So cheap or not avoid all travel.
@Foreigner Joe True that bruv, people please stay safe and help the elderly and venerable people. It’s about time the West learned from the East how to look after family and friends if they are not already doing it.
Things are changing very quickly all over the world my friend. Honestly, itβs getting hard to keep up with what country is doing what. Stay safe. All the best!
It frustrates me so much when a country charges more for foreigners. Coming from America no one charges more based on where your from. Any ideals on why this still happens?
Niagara Falls Canada charges a tourist tax, you are supposed to be able to refuse it but many places now hide it in their billing.
you should examine what really happens in the USA. Utah resorts pay extra taxes in a number of ways property, sales, airport fees, etc locals receive many discounts they just are not as in your face as Thailand’s. you have money, many times they don’t, that’s why on children’s day they get to go for free. the only question is do you believe it’s a good value?
Last I visited Chicago, decades ago, they charged people from outside Illinois more for certain attractions. I assumed, but did not know, it was because those attractions were subsidized by Illinois taxpayers so they got a break.
Holy noodles Joe! So long in Thailand and never eaten rad nah or pad siew π
Thanks for sharing π
Joe, even though flights are cheap I would not risk traveling at this time. Unfortunately, people who leave the country for vacation purposes do not look very smart lately.π
Right now if I travel, my company would want me to self quarantine for two weeks upon my return.
Bangkok and Pattaya entertainment venues are now temporarily shut down.
Big financial problems coming. Have connections. US will pull out of China as fast as they can. New NAFTA agreement states that medical supply stuff needs to be made in the North American continent which includes Mexico and Canada. China has control of 95% of medical machines and medicines. Malaysia on lock down and one needs police permission to travel. My wife just came back from Jahor Baru in the south. Her son is a prince so he called and got her permission. Silver is being bought at a fantastic pace in the US by citizens. China has a vast amount of silver and has been buying for some it for some time. There is much more going on.
Itβs such a beautiful place, I canβt believe how empty it was, there must of been a thousand people there when I went, unfortunately due to the crowds I didnβt get to see it all (itβs big), it was a spontaneous stop on the way back from Chon Buri. Itβs shaped roughly like Thailand and some of the attractions are geographically located, so much history there I must return one day. Thanks for sharing, many blessings to you, Gift and family π
Cheers π»
I went there a couple of times. So worth the visit and so few tourist know about it. Maybe keep it like that 555
Absolutely beautiful. Tq Joe and Gift.
Really great vlog Joe! thanks for sharing!π·π·π
Thailand in miniature π
Looks like You and( Notime2Besad) are the only Ex-pats doing any traveling at this time, read in the Bangkok Post that all Bars,Restaurants, massage parlors are closed in Bangkok and SongKran got cancelled, looks like Pattaya & Phuket are OK.I was there during Sars and Avian flu,2 months after 9-11 and nothing was ever closed up then.
Things are changing quickly here my friend. With the exception of moving, I think that I will put the breaks on traveling around for a while. Stay safe! All the best!
Hi Joe and Gift, Glad to see you guys doing well in Thailand. Keep those video’s coming please. I really enjoy watching you guys and the place you visit. One of these days i’ll come to see both of you in Thailand and have lunch together once. Best of luck to both of you!
Thai are Artisans. Thanks. I would like to go there with my Wife.
Place looks nice, well maintained and 300 bhat for 4 people to eat and drink is a great deal!
Beautiful! Beautiful! I am planning to visit there soon.
Yo, yo, yo, are you afraid of the Coronavirus???
@Foreigner Joe ok, I pick up what you’re laying down!!! It’s crazy how it is affecting everyone!!!
Iβm concerned about the ongoing pandemic and itβs effect on the world economy, like I believe every is one my friend. I do everything I can to avoid getting the virus or passing it on to others, should I unknowingly have it. Stay safe! All the best!
700 baht for an Aussie $35 wow if you were with your wife that’s $70 , that’s why I would not go back to Thailand,
I believe that you can buy the tickets online cheaper my friend, I might have unknowingly bought a yearly pass lol π. There are many other places to see in Thailand that are not as expensive or even free. Stay safe! All the best!
Gift was right ..Its very beautiful.
I know that you are under a time restraint and you are right but I dont think a 4 hour video would do that place justice.
Awesome, I lived with my grandparents in Samut Prakan. There’s good seafood in Bang Pu.
sad wonder when tourists will return
That’s where they filmed the karate school scene in the Bond film The Man With the Golden Gun back in the 1970s.
That’s cool. I’m going to watch that movie again and look for it.
Why don’t you ever wear shorts
I do wear shorts at home and occasionally when Iβm out and about. Wearing jeans is my preference. All the best!
Hi Joe. Good work filming and video editing. Thailand will always be great for more to discover. I hope you and Gift are fine wherever you are. π
Thanks Joe looks wonderfull , could spend a week cycling and painting in there , love it
beautiful stuff
hi joe/gift i was going to this place when i was there ran out of time,,, looks like a kool place,
That looks fantastic Joe. I wish I’d known about it last time I was over there. Next time hey! 5:18 LOL.
I was there 12-15 years ago, not so developed back then, and because i’m lazy, we rented a “golf car” :))
Great video I will definitely visit Siam when I come there… thank you so much π
Glad to see you both are looking well. Very beautiful place to visit. I would add that to my list.
Thanks for sharing Joe. Very beautiful and interesting place.
It seems you guys visit at the right time, almost had the place to yourselves. Nice video! Thanks for sharing.
Very nice…I need to see this place. I like very much not a lot of tourist people are there but I think it’s because of many reasons, economy, heat is terrible now ,n the virus.
Enjoy life
Nice video. Foreigner Joe are you aware of the proper use of a mask. Do not touch the outside of it as it may contain the virus. Best thing is only use a mask if you are sick. Hope you are not at risk travelling about. Take care.
Beautiful area, incredible. Thanks for the video look. But it looks like a ghost town in a lot of ways. Must be crazy when there are too many tourists….
Thank you Joe for sharing. What a lovely day at ancient city. Stay blessed.
What a beautiful place!! Do you feel like youβre the only ones on the planet at times? Seems most places you visit are empty of people. Be well and healthy.
What a beautiful place to visit. Thanks for sharing a great video Joe and Gift. Today Australia was put into lockdown due to the virus so I’m having to delay my May/June trip by a few months. Stay safe there both of you.π
Iβm hearing a lot of countries are closing down my friend. Things here in Thailand are changing on a daily basis as well. Stay safe. All the best!
Hi Joe and all. Just to say I lived most of my life WV. Berkeley Springs. I live now Florida Keys 6 mos and Phetchaburi 6mos. Where does your friend live in WV/ West Virginia

Thank you π for watching my friend. We plan on staying at the hotel one day and spending more time enjoying the AC. Stay safe! All the best!
I’ll tell you Joe I sure would not want the job of cutting grass around that place must take them a year to get it clipped.
Wow fantastic place, so beautiful. Have fun travelling there. Great to see Gift, such a sweety.
Thank you π my friend. Stay safe! All the best!
It’s the same guy who is responsible for the sanctuary of truth Pattaya, he has re claimed and saved so many buildings from being lost to Thai history, I did laugh when you chose the bycicle , it’s so big my husband drove like an F1 driver to get round each building in the car , and I still think we missed stuff, got to go back and do it over 2 days, good vlog
Thank you π for watching my friend. There is a lot to see so Gift and I will definitely go back and perhaps spend a night in the hotel there. Stay safe! All the best!
Thanks for you vlogs and Giftβs also. Appreciate your background and enjoyed your retirement party. Hope to meet up sometime. We live in Phetchaburi but travel a lot. Excellent video, you make me miss Thailand even more.

Stay safe my friend. All the best!
Rocking the Texas hat bub!! Another great video. What a great place. Definitely putting this on my bucket list.
Thank you π Stay safe my friend. All the best!
I have been there about 10 times, or more. I liked it better before they pained all the statues and got that touristy feel.
Looks amazing,, especially as it is empty of people
Did that a couple of weeks ago – nice day for a bike ride, plenty to see and photograph. Will definitely go back and catch the things I didn’t stop for this time, like that market area and large mouth fish in your video.
I can’t imagine the place with all the bicycles in use, fortunately, like you, there weren’t many people around, so photos were mostly sites or one of us in them.
I am really enjoying your videos. The top of my Bucket List is to visit Thailand. You now have an avid follower!
Thank you π so much my friend. Stay safe! All the best!
Hey buddy, nice video. I like history, so I spent the entire day at “Muang Boran” I asked in Thai “Can you give me the Thai price?” The friendly ticket agent replied “Sure, you are Thai people already.” Really made me feel welcome π
Thank you π my friend. Stay safe! All the best!
Amazing and you have the place almost to yourselves. I have also wondered about the gold paint they used on temples and statues.
Stay safe my friend. All the best!
Given the worldwide appeals and in some places legally enforced restrictions to travel … I find your actively moving about Thailand and vlogging at this time completely irresponsible.
@Philip S, I didn’t. I normally post my videos within a few days of recording them. With the coronavirus and my already planned move out of Bangkok, there was no time, that is why the delay. Each video will always show the date posted but not recorded. Believe it or not, I still have footage from a year ago, if I find it useful I will use it. YouTube for me is a hobby, nothing more. All the best!
@Foreigner Joe Must have missed where you told us all that the video was made in February.
While I appreciate your opinion and agree in todayβs current situation and restrictions in place, people should try to self isolate to to every extend possible. The video that you watched was footage from sometime in February (I do not always post my videos right away) and I believe at that time, there were around 40 known cases here in Thailand and absolutely no restrictions in place. That being said, I lived in Bangkok at that time and still kept from visiting places with large numbers of people except to buy groceries and other essential items. I also maintained a safe distance from people in general. Stay safe! All the best!
Since you live in Thailand; please visit my people in Thailand. The Hmong People in Thailand. My people are what they called The Jungle People
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOYKV0bOiNY
Very nice hotel and ancient city. Believe it or not. I never knew this place until you filmed it. Next year i will get there and drive around. That’s for sure.
Thank you π for watching my friend. Stay safe! All the best!
How much In Canadian Money would you need to live there Mthly
Thanks
The financial requirement for a retirement visa is 65,000 baht (2,818 Canadian dollars) at the current exchange rate. I know people living here for as little as 1,700 Canadian dollars. The true answer is it depends on your lifestyle my friend. Stay safe! All the best!
Brand new subscriber, thanks to Joe and Gift for a brilliant video, the Ancient City of Siam brought back memories when I watched Yul Brynner in The King and I all those years ago.
