  2. Airfare should not go up in price because fuel cost is extremely low currently, however, we all know , it is what it is . But everything will probably increase too from restaurants to any other service goods. The 2 weeks quarantine will be the killer on inbound and outbound on international flights.

  3. Once the airlines raise prices, once the airlines see that people will still buy tickets, even at a higher rate. I do not expect those prices to go down. The coronavirus will fade out, whether it be 2021, or 2022 but it will fade out. The airlines will keep those high prices in effect. I do not believe they will go down once they are implemented into the ticket fares. Thats just my opinion.

  4. My guess if you test negative you will get a health certificate for travel and won’t need to quarantine. Who can afford to quarantine for 14 days ?

  5. As for the bar scene. I believe people should just forget their hopes of going into the bars, atleast until feb or march of 2021, again. Thats just my opinion.

  6. And it starts. You’ll need to let them pump you full of who knows what to go anywhere. I was planning on returning to the Philippines in August but now who knows. Maybe never.

  7. I’ve already purchased my airplane ticket to the Philippines in December (at a very good price) but it would absolutely ruin my vacation if I were required to be quarantined for 2 weeks upon arrival. That just wouldn’t work for me. Hopefully things actually do go back to normal (the regular normal not the new normal) otherwise lots of plans and travel reservations will have to be changed.

  8. Public transportation opening up, yeah 30 people piled in a Jeepney going home to a barangay with 10 people living per foot. Reekay did you see the jeepneys when they were trying to enforce social distancing before the lockdown. Done of this lockdown stuff is yet on scientific data or proven. Don’t prolong this get it over and done with like Sweeden.

  9. If flights are too expensive, many people will holiday in their own country, same with people who don’t want vaccinations if it becomes mandatory. Not good for attracting tourism. At times airlines would offer cheap flights to attract passengers , but if tickets now become more expensive they might not get the numbers they require to operate at a profit. Interesting to see what happens.

  10. So what about us retirees ( over 65 and in good health ) that have come here specifically to enjoy our retirement? I did not come to this country to be forced to stay indoors until I die. Perhaps it might be time to work on an exit strategy, and leave PH for another place to retire. If this is “the New Normal”, am I just supposed to accept being locked inside, based on what “might” happen. Seems to me that’s age discrimination….I don’t think that’s happening back in the States. I don’t want to go back there, but I don’t want to sit around waiting to die because I’m forced to stay indoors….

  11. The only test that would make sense for the Philippines IMHO, is an antibody test. A test declaring you free of Covid is only a snapshot in time. Who knows where you may encounter a carrier of the virus AFTER you have had the test (taxi driver, waiter, etc.). IF there is an antibody test and IF there is some level of immunity associated with the antibodies, this may make the most sense. Everything that I am hearing indicates it would be a miracle if the vaccine is available in 2020. But, we are all guessing and we will see. I do have a friend who lives here at Marpas who is currently back in the States. PAL sold him a ticket for travel to Manila on May 4th. Now, they cancelled it when Du30 announced the extension of the Enhanced Quarantine in Manila. He believes however that he will get another ticket for May 15 or so. There is no assurance of that however and whether or not he will need to be in quarantine for 14 days upon arrival is unclear. This is all a crapshoot currently and we will have to wait and see. I am planning on going back to the States in October for a couple of months. I did check today on the requirements for an American citizen entering the country. Right now, if you arrive from the Philippines, you are supposed to self-quarantine for 14 days but there appears to be no monitoring associated with it. Again, we will see. I have not bought my ticket as yet (although I did price it out before this virus thing happened) and it will be interesting to see what the pricing will be when I book.

  12. I believe that people will be hesitant to fly initially to begin with. If
airfare is also more expensive or if yur forced into a 2 wk. quarantine, then the airline industry will suffer at least short term .

  13. Hi Reekay, my daughter is a scientist at http://www.stanford.edu and she was part of team that developed a *Sars-CoV 2 (*that causes Covid-19 ) vaccine and more likely it will have to be change each year. The vaccine is going through clinical trials in Seattle and it should be out in about 18 months, if it all goes well.
As far as staggering passengers in the plains, they might just required a suite with filters that you could put on over your clothes, such suites are already available and plains have a very sophisticated filtration system that could be enhanced to kill the virus.
As far as the 14 days observation they might just required you to get a test at the airport (there are some done in 5 to 15 mins now)
    Have a good one!

  14. Yes I think you’re right about flying with seats separating people so they will need to recoup their money from the customers. So will International airfares still be accessible for most people or will many start having their vacations much closer to home at least for the next couple of years.

  15. To be honest with you I think if they put all these things in place for the traveler that travels after the Philippines nobody will want to travel because if they take off for like a two-week vacation and they had the corn team got two weeks while they’re screwed they would just have to go back home so it’s not worth it to travel and if it was true that they would up the rates of the airline tickets well some airline companies will be going out of business

  16. Many of us have picked Philippines to retire, I am over 65, we have a home there, we love it, and I love my family there, but sounds like they want to throw us out….this is not a good deal… plus the quarantine of 14 days… not good.

  17. I’m glad it’s loosening up a bit… but I’ll be scared of the vaccinations… to many past Frankenstein incidents in our past! Look up the Tuskegee experiment for starters!

  18. Anyone could totally lock down a country. It is THE EASIEST THING TO DO. What was required is the use of Mathematical Modelling, Data Analysis, Algo’s, AI Maps to Quarantine Infected Spots while making sure economy runs as usual.

99.9% of Filipinos are HEALTHY, 99.9% of Americans, Indians, Europeans, Rest of the world is HEALTHY. We Need Mathematics To Solve THIS ISSUE. NOT LOCKDOWN.

I bet 99.999% of Politicians do not know what Composite Numbers, Infinite Series is all about. Maths is the BASE of Nature, if a Government has good Mathematicians, The society would never be under lockdown. Math can Predict and Control the infection at the same time Make sure Economy Runs smoothly. Please USE OF MATHEMATICS Philippines.

  19. The “new normal” …  “All tyrannies rule through fraud and force, but once the fraud is exposed they must rely exclusively on force.” ~ George Orwell

  20. I am 68 and live alone in the Philippines. Am I to be locked in without food? And the over 60 crowd never has to worry about Immigration again.

  21. I guess it will be, see how it goes for me.. I am one day past my 3 year visa run.. I know we have a thirty day grace period after an official date of lifting the lockdown.. I am 65, I want to go to Taiwan as that was the cheapest flight I could find round trip for, and a throw away… I will work it out, but will have to see how this plays out.. Thanks for the video, Henry…

  22. How do poor Filipinos survive? Many have no saving. Do they all get money from the government to cover their expense while they are not working?

  23. Couple of things Reekay…1st, nobody will be able to afford to sit in quarantine for 14 days. Who has that many days to sit around waiting and then going on with their business? Not the typical pinoy or expat for that matter. 2nd, a vaccine is at least a year to a year and a half away. And your assumption is correct…many simply don’t trust the system for a vaccination. I can see perhaps getting a health check to say you don’t have the virus. Here in China we have a health type app on our cell phones that is sufficient for travel and if we go to another province, we can get another updated one. If countries enact these types of extreme measures, the travel industry will just end. Economies are in life support as we speak and to add these extra burdens makes no sense. It’s economic and political suicide. Yes I agree that social distancing, wearing masks, etc….are here to stay. It will come down to survival of the fittest I hate to say. Those who are strong will survive and those who are not won’t. The one thing I totally agree with you on is that airlines will jack up the prices when tourism opens up. I think some type of price freeze should be in place for 6 months but that is just a pipe dream. I think the Philippine gov has an incredible opportunity to get this right when the new normal arrives. However with what I’ve seen over the past weeks, I’m not so confident in them. There is a severe lack of over site, in compitency, lack of empathy for the poor, and of course corruption. I hope to get back to Cebu this Fall or early in 2021 so I can be with my fiance. At present I’m in China and I’m the only support she has. She and her two kids are just 3 of thousands that DU30 has forgot. I will cont supporting her and if I can’t get back there, I’ll have to see about getting them out. I love your content as always and let’s hope you are wrong concerning the vaccines, quarantines, etc…Hope you and Vi stay safe. Y’all make a great couple.

  24. Reekay, my guess is that in few months passengers would be required to be tested at airports just before departure and tested again upon arrival if its international flight. Would be quarantined when positive . At that time cost of test would be less than $25 and passenger would bare the cost, the result of test would be as fast as 5 minutes.

  25. I’ll never take the vaccine. Seems Philippines have returned to the dark ages. I hope common sense eventually Prevails. I’ll be out has soon as i can get a flight.

  26. This is sad that all this is over 400 deaths in the last 4 months… In a population of 1200000.. It is all just silly.. There are 100 things you are more likely to die from.. This is all about power and control of people. What a shitty time to be alive.

  27. I disagree with Reekay here. The reason sweeper flights were expensive was high demand to get home during a pandemic, trapped overseas does not seem a very good option for many, many people . But once home there is no demand to leave and go back overseas during a pandemic. To me Reekay’s looking at it backwards. People just are not going to do it, most will do a wait and see approach so therefore with no demand the prices will be low just to get some people to travel and keep employee’s busy.
Airlines can run while losing money, airlines have more purpose then just turning a big profit as goverment will help them for sake of economy, for bussiness, shipping , and just to keep employee’s busy and airlines running.
Right now in US airlines are flying with 1 person on board, do you think that 1 person payed a high rate to cover the entire plane ? That is not the way it works. Things don’t always work the way they’d make sense, sometimes it takes experience dealing with these things.

  28. Where you getting this information from?? Please tell me ?? I don’t hear any official statement from Philippines government yet . This just your opinion correct .

  29. There are certain countries where you already have to have your vaccination records in hand in order to get a visa. They have been doing that for years. The Yellow Fever one is required for some countries for sure.

  30. Also remember that probably 50% of airlines are going to go under, so supply demand pressure will add another 50% increase to your 30% calculation. Prices will be almost double.

  31. Seems like losing 1/3 of seats requires 50% increase on remaining 2 seats. (3/3 – 1/3)*150% = 1 OR 3 seats at 1000 for 3000 and lose 1 to 2000 requires 1.5 x 1000 x 2 = 3000
