Should you get a Gimbal? Zhiyun Crane 2 review

Technology is advancing rapidly giving us access to some amazing new gear helping to make our videos even better! I recently got to test out the Zhiyun crane 2, one of the leading and most recognised motorised stabilisers in the game. in this video i give my opinion on the crane 2 and discuss weather it is worth getting a gimbal.

  1. I love your videos alot.
Just can’t wait for you to come India .
I just insanely admire you .
For me you’re the GOD of film making and I just wanna meet you at least once in my life .

  2. Dude, you are SUCH an awesome editor, and this gimbal has been reviewed a trillion times; what hasn’t been reviewed a trillion times is how to edit like you do….please do advanced After Effects tutorials!!!

  3. I have a Crane v2 (not Crane 2). It has not autofocus but works fine! Do you know if Crane 2 manage the autofocus also with Fujifilm cameras? Or only Pana and Sony? Thanks Benn, nice video, ad usual!

  4. Is that Trentham Falls dude? I proposed to my now wife there, looks very familiar!
Great shots, I have the smooth q modded to hold my G7X mk2, love the Zhiyun price and quality!

  5. I’ve never used a gimbal, I’m more old school even if I’m just 15 yo. So my tool is the glidecam.
Of course the learning curve take more time but I personally feel the glidecam smoother than a gimbal!
But would love to try a gimbal, it’s always good to know how to use different tools πŸ™‚

  6. Thanks for this video Ben, I actually purchased this gimbal a couple of months ago and gave up after my first use as I couldn’t balance it properly (this is my first gimbal) so think this may have been the motive I needed! P.s if that is trentham falls wow! I have been there several times and only seen it dripping like a tap, looks like I might be on a road trip in the next few weeks and may even take my gimbal!

    1. Watch B&H sales every day…the Crane 2 with follow focus was $499 yesterday. The Crane 2 is awesome for the weight and will only go down in price with 3 new Zhiyun gimbals coming out very soon. The Ronin S looks ok but DJI is slow to come out with their expensive accessories. plus it’s heavier than it needs to be.

  7. 1. This video was so hollllyyyy amazing 😍😍😍😍πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯
    2. I got the Ronin M and I’m shooting music videos, do you think I’m good with the Crane ? And should I switch ?

  8. I just love your personality. You’re insanely talented and you use it for the best. I’ve learnt a lot from you. Also I think we both are big Illenium fans.

  9. question,
for your trips to thailand, did you always use the gimbal?
how do you know when you want to use the gimbal when the environment is not ideal?
    for hyperlapses mainly?
    thanks benn!

  10. Heya, thanks you so much for the video.
Will u able to put the location on the title . Coz it will be great to let pp know that Victoria have many amazing place to visit

  11. i love your videos and i have been watching you for so long im now in Melbourne if you even need someone to film with you are anything at all ping me up my Instagram @dinakardanny

  12. Nice and helpful video Benn!! I just wanna ask what laptop and camera do you use beside this gimbal, and for a beginner filmmaker what camera should I use? Thank you TK!

  13. The only thing that irritates me with it is; it erases the settings everytime you turn it off. You have to reconnect it to your phone & launch the app. Sometimes you apply your saved preset for it and it doesnt work, but you might not realize for a bit. Still a pound lighter than the DJI one though

  14. Hey Benn! Your work has become absolutely incredible over the last couple of years. You inspire every day to improve my film making. I was wondering what kind of gear you are using currently as I’m looking to upgrade to a full frame some time soon. Awesome work bro!

  15. crane 2 is a beast , just filmed 2 testclips (indoor and outdoor) and i’m really impressed!
you have to practice a lil bit for really smooth looking footage but after some days you’ll be able to get some good footage
    thumbs up Benn TK !

  16. I use the Crane 2 with a 1dx ii on it. It’s a pretty solid gimbal, but the 1dx ii is a bit too big for it in my opinion, it still gets the job done, but the bottom of the camera hits the gimbal every now and then do to the camera’s height. Keep crushing bro!

  17. Always thought to have a gimbal! This made me more adamant buying one! Discovered your channel literally just now after trying to get inspirations , as I’ve just started my own 2 days ago! YOUR CHANNEL LOOKS EPIC! Gosh! I hope you have tutorials to everything that you do! Keep being awesome! Thank you!

  18. hello my friends are vietnamese

    thank you

    Have fun watching your videos

  19. I just bought the Zhiyun Crane V2 (a bit smaller and cheaper than the Crane 2) to use it in combination with the sony a6300 and i have to say that i’m not dissapointed. The only downside of it is, that it isn’t working with heavier cameras. but if you own a light camera, like the a6300 is, it is definetely a cheaper choice than the Crane 2.

    1. The V2 does work with heavier cameras like my A7Riii, but then your lens choice becomes very limited due to the V2’s weight limits. I’m upgrading my V2 to a 2 because of it.

  20. Long time photographer since 1975. Looking to upgrade my video capability by using an older Hard drive based camcorder a Sony DCR SR200 at 1.1 pounds, released about 2007. Do not laugh, I like it’s HD results on my 55 inch TV better than a new model I tried a year ago, which I returned to Amazon because its video quality was not as good at the older Sony. I think the new video codecs compress the video too much.

I own two Nikon D700 bodies (12MP FX circa. 2009), which do not have video capability. As an older guy at 57, cameras are for photos, camcorders are for video, and never the twain shall meet!

Anyhow, I have begun investigating gimbals, and found this Zhiyun Crane 2 review, however, this review covers the modes of use (pan follow, full follow, lock mode, point of view mode, and selfie mode (I get that one), in a mere 10 seconds or about 2 seconds per mode) with no explanation which mode does what (not a good intro for us video novices).

Can anyone elaborate on these modes?

  21. I have one and absolutely love it, but I was always scared about wet conditions and things like this. I’d never shoot in the pouring rain, but it’s good to know it’s quite durable! Thank you Been. πŸ™‚

  22. Awesome review Benn. I am looking at purchasing a mirrorless camera at the end of the year as well as a Gimbal. This one has a simplicity that I like about. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

  23. Great stuff mate πŸ‘πŸ» I just purchased the Zhiyun Crane 1 from eBay $290 AUD and now doing my research about these great Gimbals. I am happy to now be a subscriber of a fellow Aussie and looking forward to sharing videos with you. Cheers from Outback country Wild Wester Australia πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί
