Medellin – A Great Place to Retire
Medellin Philippines is a great mostly quiet place to retire in. This community has everything plenty of space and land to purchase and build your home, several great and not too expensive beach resorts like Warrens’ Beach Resort, the mayor of Medellin’s Hide Away, San Remigio, Virgin Beach Resort, Medellin Free Beach and more (see Beach Resorts page from the top menu under “Beach Resorts”.) This community is right on the ocean so those resorts are not far away. As always I have supplied several photos and some videos of the area. I had a chance to meet the Mayor of Medellin Ricardo Ramirez, while in Bogo recently, he seems to be a very nice guy who truly cares about his city and has done a lot to improve everything there. He is easy to talk to, even invited me to his office for a longer talk, I believe I will take him up on that soon.
Barangays
Medellin is administratively subdivided into 19 barangays

I want to talk to him about a dream I have. I have a proposal to build a self sustaining community in the Medellin area on our 5 hectares of land. The homes will be entirely solar powered, with a bank of batteries to run it at night. We will also have our own water facility right there on the land. The homes will be super quiet as there are no festivals near this area, yet it is close to Medellin market and the city of Bogo. This community will have it’s own power company and water company and no more brownouts… Enjoy the photos and videos below.

- Here is an aerial shot from Google Earth of Medellin, our land it circled in this photo. Notice the river that runs from the ocean up past our land, there are photos below of this river.
The white area on this map next to the road it the mayors barbecue stand and boat dock. You can also see the bridge and river we were boating on with the Mayor. The road crosses the river and enters Medellin Down Town area, you can see the circle depicted in another photo on this page.
Here you can see the land where you see a row of houses, same ones in the photo with all the people elsewhere on this post. It kind of looks like the west coast of California.

At this point in the river we are at the closest point next to our 5 hectares of land. You see a row of houses shown in several other photos on this page some from the street side next to the land.

This is lookint at the houses from the street side the river is to the left behind these houses. These guys work our land for us, well not the kids the adults.

In this photo the river is to the right we are looking back up the road we just came down. Marianne's land is to the left.
The outline is all of the 5 hectares of land, the gray structures at the bottom are houses. The river is just off the left side of this photo.
Marianne’s Land taken in 2009 they had an extremely dry year the crop was devastated by dry conditions. This year we have too much rain but the land does have run off so the crop is good.

Another Looking at Marianne's land form the river. Marianne is standing in the previous photo just beyond these coconut trees.
