    1. @Calvin Roach , yeah, but itโ€™s still a good choice for someone living overseas , and wanna find girls in the Philippines . Iโ€™m agree that most of Filipinas go to dating sites are single mothers ,who desperately need finance supports , sometimes they wanted it right away, which draw a very bad image and negative views from their potential boyfriend/ husband. Some go there only to scam (usually with sexy and attractive photos), some are province girls from broken or very poor families.

    2. Spurlin Edwards congratulations we got lucky. I met my wife 10 years ago on a dating site but those were the good old days. I wouldnโ€™t suggest it now.

  1. Great interview with Calvin, Also Iโ€™ve just subscribed and came across your channel very good info! Iโ€™ll be there when all of this is over and hope to chat soon! Iโ€™ve had some experiences that I can certainly learn from a few mistakes in SEA.

  2. Big kudos to Calvin for totally embracing the country, people, and cultures of Philippines! I watch here in youtube a lot of foreigners living in the Philippines who complains and whines about the Philippines for being a backward country, ignorant people, pollution, food etc., and do not really integrate themselves in the Philippine society. Some of these expats from the west that I am referring to, emigrates because they are unhappy in their own country. They move to Philippines with their western attitudes and bringing along with them some issues from their country of origin. Ironically, they try to escape issues from their own country but demand the same things in a foreign land. Thank you Calvin for appreciating Philippines for what it is!

    1. Thanks Biyaheng, people are the same all over the world. No matter where they are from. Some good, some bad. As Calvin said on the call, lets judge people by their own personal character, rather than by their country of origin, their religion, or the color of their skin … or their fancy haircuts … or shaved heads. ๐Ÿ™‚

    2. @Calvin Roach oppsss! Hahaha! I thought you were the same person as Black Filipino TV. You sounded exactly like him. Anyway, I did listen to both of your interviews by Vagabond Awake and I am very fascinated to say the least as you talked about your experiences while living in the Philippines. I am glad to hear that Filipinos are treating you well. Stay safe my friend!

    3. BiyahengAmerika hahaha that is not my channel but thanks for your kind words. Thanks for your work on the frontlines against the virus. Click on my picture and subscribe to my channel. I havenโ€™t posted anything lately but I will start.

    4. @Calvin Roach BTW, I am subscriber to your channel “The Black Filipino TV” and following your journey. I admire your open mindedness and acceptance of Filipino people. You immersed yourself in the culture and without being judgmental. I am a fan! I wish you luck and success. I am currently working in Emergency Room as RN and living here in San Francisco California. I am looking forward to retire in the Philippines in the next decade.

    5. BiyahengAmerika I want to thank Filipinos for judging me by my character and welcoming me with open arms. This is the only place where I have experienced that.

  3. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. This Is a perscective that speaks to a part of me. Im ex-navy, Black American, Divorced. Ive been planning a trip around Southeast Asia to find mom next home. These to interviews where extremely helpful and inspiring.

  4. I’m enjoying your channel even though I’ve already chosen Davao. I have seen your partners channel and I really think a collaboration channel would work better. You complement each other very well. Perhaps some more scripting ?

  5. Thanks for yet another excellent and informative video. Your interview with Mr Roach was a pleasure to listen to as you asked all the right questions, and gave him the chance to answer at his own pace, and uninterrupted. Very wise man with a lot of practical tips for anyone interested in retirement to the Philippines is Mr. Roach. Thanks again for having him on, and for all your fine videos. I have subbed to both your channels, and am looking forward to more great content. Shalom from Israel…

  6. A little balance is necessary here. The Philippines is VERY dangerous esp. if you are white. You could be kidnapped. And guess what bank robbers do in the Philippines? They kill EVERYONE so there are no witnesses. I live in SE Asia but I’m also aware of the risks and downsides, of which there are many.

    1. Wall Street Expat which Philippines? Luzon? Visayas? Mindanao? The diversity here is unbelievable. What country isnโ€™t dangerous? I feel safer here than home in America.

  7. Spot on Calvin. I didn’t come here to meet a woman, but did. Found a near stress free life. My health is better since coming here. My income varies from $3000 to 4000 a month but hardly ever spend more than $500 a month for myself. I am able to live in paradise on the beach with a good woman and hoping to start traveling as soon as this Virus is gone. Where do I go?, I am in paradise already!

  8. An excellent interview and gorgeous jungle/waterfall footage. I’m a year out from retiring and Mindanao has my name on it but I’ll darn sure come visit where this video was shot. So many types of paradise selections to chose from in the Philippines.

    1. Rich great choice. Iโ€™m in Mindanao now because of the lockdown and the cost of living here is the lowest of all the regions. Its a gigantic island with plenty to see. In my opinion the women here have the nicest bodies in the Philippines.

  9. Hi Dan, good information thanks. Usually when I’m in Vietnam, I always use my debit card in ATM’S from my bank in England, going forward and when I am living in the Country most of the time, would it be best to use ‘Transferwise’ , heard a lot of positives about it?

    1. Thanks for confirming Calvin’s experience Danny. I especially love when he said, “They judge me by my character here.” Dr. King’s dreams in living color. Best, Dan

  10. Calvin notices immediately
    the difference when he
    goes back home.. yep
    after a month in Negros
    not even an hour after
    my return there was a
fight in the line of a
    department store here
    in Ohio
