  5. I’d say that restaurant is no where near cheap, and a tad more than just reasonably priced even by Bangkok’s Main Street (Sukhumvit Rd.) prices. But you could always justify “reasonable” according to individual taste as well I guess.’

  13. Why would any American man with any kind of real wealth want to live in Thailand. It’s a poor society full of desperate woman looking for someone to feed them. America is full of beautiful woman all colors, shapes and sizes. Moreover America has way more opportunities.

    1. Oh boy not really. People are fleeing the US in droves. There are more Americans with passports and more colonies of Americans living in latin America than ever before.

    2. You are describing the Philippines, not Thailand. I’m around Johnny’s age, not overweight, have never been to the seedy areas of Thailand and not one Thai woman has ever approached me out of the blue, while I’ve been there. Thai women are more akin to the women from the 1930’s, 1940’s and 1950’s in the west.

  14. Mate let’s face it, when you have to compare it to coffee club to make it look like value it’s too expensive , 160 baht ($8 aud ) for an orange juice , did they forget to write down the shot of tequila that went with it . Eating burgers in Thailand is like eating durian in Australia . Anyway mate just taking the piss , you’re always going to pay top odds to eat at a location like that . Cheers

    1. A derogatory term for a miserly or parsimonious person. Used largely in countries of Southeast Asia, it likely originated in Vietnam during the Vietnam War to refer to American GIs (who called soldiers of the Viet Cong “Charlie”) unwilling to spend extravagantly at bars, restaurants, or for prostitutes.

  15. Almost same price as US prices…Thailand is no longer cheap like it was in 1995…will have to reconsider Thailand as a retirement destination..Because u need 2k per month now to live comfortably…speaking of which ..where is Jonny?..he hasn’t posted lately
