  1. Sounds like nonsense for a non-full anesthetic OPD procedure. It shouldn’t cost as much. Is Bangkok Hospital really necessary? The same doctor likely works at the other hospitals as well.

  2. You want 100 more opinions? Look at comments below lol, all people concerned about you with the best of intentions but you do what you feel comfortable with. Happy Holidays Rob 😎✌🏼

  3. Merry Christmas and a Happy Ney Year. It seems cheap compared to US prices, but in the UK it would be free unless you went private. Good luck when the op happens.

  4. What? No masks, no plastic walls in the cab? Is Thailand open? Has the govt given up on the stupid rules? Is it safe to walk on the road with traffic coming up behind you? Do Thai kids really know why Christmas trees are white and silver?

  5. hope it isn’t serious! i had the same “shit”, the phyiscian said it was nothing “serious” and removed it after some 10 minutes or so. it cost me nothing because i live in a country with fully “implemented obama care”! merry x-mas & happy new year to you!

  6. Have a good break over Christmas. It sounds expensive, but as long as all goes well, its worth it. Take care and look forward to watching more of your videos, as always!

  7. As usual the comments are full of unhelpful suggestions from amatuer trades men . Do what you think is best for yourself is my moto, cheap is not usually the best in my many years experience.

  8. I had my appendix taken out in Thailand a few year ago . this was done for the cost of medication as my Thai father in law was an officer in the Thai army.

  9. My pre-flight Covid test In August, it cost me 10,000 Baht at the Pattaya Bangkok Hospital. My girlfriend (same test) 4000 Baht! I had no choice – had to do it 72 hours prior – and take 24hrs to get the results. Thai’s really know how to apply the ‘farang-tax’ to their health care system – as well as other ‘services’. No sympathy here Rob!

  10. You generally get what you pay for with doctors and lawyers. I call it a “peace of mind fee”. Anyways, glad to see you taking care of yourself. Merry Christmas. Take care.

  11. Merrx Christmas na krap. You can always see Doctor Melcher in Patong he works at vachira hospital part time and looks after farang. I visited him back in march to ask where i should go for a nephrologist. He said come to vachira when i work there. He’s probably the only one there speaking good English and even german πŸ˜‚

  12. I have heard that working on an eyelid can be challenging. It is really thin skin and tears (as in “rips”) pretty easily, so you need a plastic surgeon with steady hands and good technique. Good luck and think positive. Some say that surgeons with big boobs are the most talented.

  13. sometime ago i had hernia inguinal surgery.. bangkok hodsital wanted 250.000 baht … hua chiew chinese hospital 50.000 baht finaly i went to prachung 9 government hospital petchaburi province done for 16.000 baht . surgery 30 minute 5000 baht …… check another hospital yes sounds expensiv bangkok hospital ….there is a eyes hospital in bangkok go there and check again ……chinese hospital herbal remedies and more heal many things without surgery …. check out also before you get surgery on eyes …..

  14. HEY ROB, I JUST HAD SHOULDER SURGERY AT BANGKOK HOSPITAL IN BANGKOK AND THE BILL CAME TO JUST UNDER 400,000 BAHT. MY INSURANCE, BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD, PAID 85 PERCENT OF IT. I AM VERY FORTUNATE THAT I KEPT IT WHEN I RETIRED FROM THE GOVERNMENT.

SO I HAVE TO COME UP WITH THE BALANCE BUT BANGKOK HOSPITAL HAS A POLICY OF LETTING YOU MAKE PAYMENTS. I HAVE TO MAKE 3 EQUAL AMOUNT OF PAYMENTS. THE TRIC IS TO DO IT AHEAD OF TIME. CALL THEM AND TALK TO THE PEOPLE IN THEIR FINANCE DEPARTMENT OR WHATEVER THEY CALL IT.

I WANT TO WISH YOU AND ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS IN THE AREA A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS. I HOPE TO HAVE ALL OF MY STUFF SHIPPED HERE THIS SUMMER AND A LOT OF THE BOXES ARE CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS SO I WILL BE DECORATING MY CONDO FOR CHRISTMAS NEXT YEAR AND HAVING A CHRISTMAS PARTY. YOU WILL BE INVITED ALONG WITH A FEW OTHER BLOGGERS THAT I KNOW. PROVIDED WE ARE ALL STILL ALIVE BY THAT TIME. HOPE YOU CAN MAKE IT.

  15. Hi Rob. I had 25 stitches in my ear and an xray of my elbow at the Bangkok Christian Hospital for 21,000 baht ($693) plus 1500 baht ($49.50) for meds. Luckily, I had an accident policy that covered everything but the meds………..Sal : ) P.S. BCH is a non-profit hospital.

  16. I just had surgery for a broken ankle with multiple breaks. They put in a metal plate and 5 screws. Total cost at Chulalongkorn Hospital in Bangkok including 3 days in the hospital, all medications including several doses of morphine, 6 x-rays before the operation, another 3 X-ray’s after the operation, and another 3 x-rays before they disharged me was only 30,000 baht. $1,000 USD. I would definitely go get a second opinion from another hospital or clinic.

  17. You can ask a local certified skin doctor who is working part time in hospital to take it out, much much cheaper that way. At least he or she is a doctor, right. In my hometown, i go to a private doctor, which is way much cheaper than going to big hospital because the hospital charged a lot for the facility, not for paying the doctor. And in my experience, going to local doctor has the same result with going to hospital. 5-7 times cheaper than going to hospital, and it still has the sterile establishment as hospital. You also can ask the doctor in hospital if he or she opens a clinic.

  18. Try going through a public hospital specialist it will cost half as much. It’s not a complicated procedure. I got my appendix taken out and 10 people worked on my surgery and 4 days in the hospital charged at a farang bed rate, and it was only 30K baht.

  19. wishing you a happy Christmas and a happy new year in 2021 and I do hope that you could make more videos 2021 I know it is hard at the moment with the covid M8 they have two or three more strains in the uk and in Europe and here in Holland we are in lock down until the second week of January 2021 you take care mate and have a good one bud

  20. Have to say $1200-$1600 Aussie sounds like a steal in a great hospital,

Obviously everyone’s finance is different but I would think it would be more here – potentially by a lot if it’s not covered by insurance if you have it

  21. Go get a quote elsewhere and then reassess, yet as a number of people have said, the price is fair, pay it, enjoy life without the frustration and stay healthy.πŸ‘
    Merry Xmas to all πŸ₯³πŸŽ„πŸŽ…

  22. Rob wishing you all the best for eye surgery also wishing you merry Christmas and happy new year
With full off love peace and happiness
    Good luck with your surgery

  23. $1300 – $1800 is pretty good in my mind. I would triple or quadruple the cost of that in the US.

And now for something completely different…Merry Christmas!

  24. Hello Rob Wishing you well and everyone in Kamala well. Things there for your eye surgery is a lot better then having it done here in the US. Wishing everyone there a Very Merry Christmas πŸŽ…πŸŽ„

  25. Was sorry to hear the story but I hope n pray it ends well. Since you didnt mention insurance, I guess this is coming out of your savings.
Wish you a great time at the parties Merry Christmas and our Lord’s choicest blessings for the New Year. πŸŽ…πŸŽ…πŸŽ…πŸŽ…πŸŽ…
    πŸ‘•πŸ‘™πŸ‘”πŸ‘—πŸŽ½
    Santa is coming!

PS: Wish she could tell what was the cause of it.

  26. Hey, Rob. I went to the dentist today in Khon Kaen, and I’m going back on Saturday for a root canal. 😱
Happy Holidays to you! I’m trying to come to Phuket for a week next month. I want to see the ocean again before I go back to the ice and snow in Utah on February 5. I HOPE I can return to Thailand soon!

  27. Hey subscribers and viewers. There’s a PayPal address in the description for every one of Rob’s videos. I’m going over to that now to help him out with this. We all pull together.
