  1. If all you have is a sundang, everything starts to look like a coconut! Looks like a good tool, Henry. Just make sure you count your fingers after each use.

  2. yeah get a goat or sheep or even a donkey to clear it up ==Hey the Chicago Airport is using Goats to clear their grass etc from the O’HAIRE AIRPORT –WOULD YOU BELIEVE but u know this is Chciago and the Sheep are demanding to be unionized !!!!!!!

  3. What do you do with all the branches and vines that you hack out of there? Do you burn it in a pile or barrel? Does someone come to hall it off?

  4. I have a designated fire pit in the front yard, which is where I spend more of my time. I hardly ever go to the backyard but still want to keep the brush down so mosquitoes don’t breed.

  5. I let it dry in a pile.. which takes a while due to the rain, but it does dry enough for burning. I have a designated firepit which I light up once in a while in the evenings to clear the brush and get rid of the mosquitoes while enjoying a fire under the stars. 🙂

  6. Let’s see.. single foreigner guy asks to borrow the goat for a few days. No.. not a good scenario. Besides, using this machete thing is way more fun. 🙂

  7. The bamboo poles is for hanging clothes to dry under the sun. Also to clean you bed spreads or mat. Much stronger than using a rope or tie-wire (“alam-bre”).

  8. You should have vegetables and spices on your backyard and keep it clear off unwanted weeds and vines with big leafs …So, snakes doesn’t live there and surprise you.. Lots of Cobras in the phillipines too.

  9. That is “Tu-ko”.  That is a really small one but the most common size.  Some go to 2 kilo.  They eat mice! (and gekkos).  When you see them on the eves of buildings they seem very sluggish, but on the hunt they can move very fast.  As yours did, when cornered they threaten you with that open mouth.  As you can clearly see they have no teeth, but it seems to be very hard to get anybody, even Filipinos, to put your finger in that mouth.  You can tell a true expat when he reached down and puts his finger out knowing it is just a bluff.

    1. i like having them around the house. always interesting to watch. they never get into the food, usually staying high on the walls or ceiling. once in a blue moon they go after the gnats in the trash if i have fruit there.
