  1. That is not a Canadian maple leaf, that is a Californian maple leaf. ANZAC day in Australia is quiet with no parades or open dawn services this year. Stay safe.

  2. Never been but 100% certain Vietnam is a friendly place even for ex Yankee soldiers.
As proved in this video. Great experience. Watching the TV when i was 5. ”Why am i born into such a daft place”?
12:00 That’s called a Coracle in UK. Perfectly serviceable for navigating rivers. But not Oceans! ;O
Don’t like seeing dead Sea Horses for sale. That’s my gripe with Asia. Where’s the compassion? Interesting Video.

  3. Thanks for piecing together the Vietnam footage, Chuck. I served in the Marines during the Vietnam War, which, incidentally, is referred to by the locals as the American War. I wanted to visit the North, so I spent a lot of time in Hanoi about 10 years ago, and the traffic was much worse than anywhere I’ve ever been, including Mexico City and Rome. A pedestrian truly takes his life in his hand when crossing streets, but plow on I did, almost daring the motorcyclists to hit me. I think because the US did not bomb the city beyond Haiphong Harbor, Hanoi remains exquisite, with remnants of French Indonesian architecture and color. If you haven’t been, I highly recommend a visit. The younger people (<55) are altogether pleasant, and those older are curious as to why an American farang is roaming their streets. Some have not forgotten, I guess.

  4. 🎢Too much time on my hands?
It’s ticking away with my sanity
I’ve got too much time on my hands
It’s hard to believe such a calamity
I got too much time on my hands🎢
The seafood is so cheap and delicious in Vietnam especially the area you were in around Da Nang, I love those huge urchins with lime and chili sauce πŸ˜‹ the traffic is insane organized chaos. Thanks for sharing Chuckee, many blessings to you, Paige and family πŸ™πŸΌ
    Cheers 🍻

  5. That was a fun video seeing back when you were a tourist. “That is not a boat. You’re going to die.” That made me laugh, I recall saying almost the same thing the first time I saw one of those.

  6. nice tour , question if alright how are you getting all this great English and Thai music and able to put it on youtube and they let you no bad marks on your channel. I put music and youtube blocks it saying copy righted πŸ™

  7. Greeting Chuck and Paige, wow what a difference in the video, you have come a long way grasshopper .
As others have said it is ANZAC Day to day, the 25th of April in New Zealand and Australia a day in which we honour and remember all those who have given of themselves to give us the freedom we enjoy today.
Remember my comments on your Kanchanaburi video.
Sadly due to the lockdown we have not been able to have our dawn service parades throughout each country.
    The ANZAC ode,
    They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them.

  8. HEY CHUCK AND PAIGE, I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU CHUCK, YOUR SKILLS HAVE IMPROVED OVER THE YEARS. THAT FOOTAGE REALLY DID KIND OF, HOW DO I PUT IT NICELY, SUCKED. LOL

ONE THING THAT DID STAND OUT WAS THE CHINESE INFLUENCE IN THEIR PAST. I LOVE THAT ARCHITECTURE. THE FOOD FOR THE MOST PART LOOKED GOOD EXCEPT THE SEAHORSES, JUST NOT MY CUP OF TEA EATING SOMETHING THAT IS THAT BEAUTIFUL. SPEAKING OF BEAUTIFUL, PAIGE WAS JUST AS BEAUTIFUL THEN THAN SHE IS NOW.

I TAKE IT YOU WERE IN THE NORTHERN PART OF VIETNAM, I DON’T THINK YOU EVER MENTIONED WHAT CITY YOU WERE IN. UNLESS YOU DID IT WHEN I HAD TO ANSWER THE DOOR. I MUST SAY THEY HAVE RECOVERED WELL FROM THE WAR. WE PRETTY MUCH TORE THE NORTH UP WITH BOOMING. I LIKE THAT.

LOOKING FORWARD TO ANY MORE OF THE TRIP YOU HAVE. HOPE YOU WENT SOUTH BECAUSE I KNOW THAT PART OF THE COUNTRY WAS BEAUTIFUL.

  9. As retirees, you made the right decision, didn’t bother about big house, no burden. It is freedom to travel anyway every month, very affordable in South East Asia.

  10. Good to see Vietnam developing as an independent country and not an exploited satellite of the USA .
After all , millions of Vietnamese gave their lives for this independence , freedom, and victory over the USA .

  11. Its offical Chuck in lockdown has lost it at home painting things blue, pink, poker dots, flowers.
But then again people have done crazier things stuck at home 😷

  12. I went to Vietnam Dec 2010 to do a solo 3 month trip in Vietnam. Back the day you did not have to have a return ticket as I did not know where I was going to end up. Anyway first stop was Ho Chi Minh then on to Vung Tao. I was only in Vietnam for the one week when I received a call from a mate from Australia to come and meet him for a week in Bangkok. So I did and ended up in Pattaya and now been living in Thailand ever since. So I did not finish my Vietnam trip because of the Land of Smiles.

  13. Great to see Hue, Danang, and Hoi An again. I was supposed to be there now but got stranded in Thailand by lockdowns. I’ll be back soon (when we’re allowed) and try to capture some video. Subscribe to my channel if you’d be interested.
