How to run your own Internet Cafe

|

The “Cool Zone” an Internet Cafe and at that time a store, was created as a family business  in the year 2002 by Michael Board and Michelle Miraflores, Marianne’s second oldest sister. In 2004 I became a half owner partner in this business by buying half of all the assets of the business at the time around $6,000. Then in 2008 Michael Board and Michelle went to Canada and the business was turned over to Marianne; it was signed over legally and is in here name today. The Cool Zone made money all these years and still does today.  We had to think of other ways to make money in 2004 – 2006 as there were several internet cafe’s one directly across the street but it failed after only 3 month. As a way to increase revenue of the Cool Zone, we began doing a lot of extra stuff the regular internet cafes were not doing. These were color printing, printing of brochures, typing documents with skilled typists. We also loaded cell phones and other devices with music,  did ID Photos for ID cards, downloaded and printed photos from cameras, scanned and copied documents and Repaired Computers. On average the store maid around P50,000 to0 P70,000 a month in revenue. If you have a good location this can be a good way to make money here in the Philippines.  The “Cool Zone” is located down town Bogo Cebu Philippines and is one block over from the main street in Bogo, so it does have a good location.  Try to pick an area where there aren’t other internet cafes on every corner. Also make sure you have better equipment, the average cafe has 14″ monitors and outdated cheap computers. We only used foreign (Canadian) CPUs and 17″ monitors. Many of our customers use us because they prefer the larger screens. Now Michael Board has added several 21″ monitors and super fast PC these rent for P35 per hour for internet access and the 17″ are going for P20 per hour. Overall it has been a good business and would be a god start-up business for someone looking for a way to make money here.

Interior of the Cool Zone looking towards the street. We have a Yamaha Motorcycle dealer “Wheeltek” directly across from us. Notice the 17″ monitors on all computers. We now have several 21″ flat screen monitors.
