Cebu’s Highways

If you need to get around Cebu, traveling to and from any of the cities on Cebu can be a challenge. There are no super highways here, there are no toll ways here and every major road on Cebu is currently a two lane road. And there is only one main road gong from the northern tip of Cebu all the way down to the southern tip and it’s all two lane roads. This road goes through every little barangay and city along the rout. There is no route around these cities and towns, you have to go right through the middle of all of them. During the morning and evening rush hours these cities are hard to navigate, highly congested with cars, buses, trucks, jeepneys, tricycles, and motorcycles all using the same highway system. The average Tricycle does not exceed 20 kph and you are faced with the necessity to over take each one and these things are spaced out about one car length apart all the way along the roads near cities. This has a huge effect on timing how long it takes you to get from point A to point B. I would hope some day they will build a raised highway all the way along this route for those of us that would like to bypass all the little cities and towns. I include a few photos of the main route from Bogo to Cebu City which is about 98 kilometers and takes any wheres from 2 to 3 hours to drive.
