  1. There is much more to bringing pets to the Philippines than one can learn directly from the Bureau of Animal Industry website. There is more involved than just logistics, and there are set costs involved. One should not expect to have to pay more than that required to get processed through customs. Most of our expense involved Vet visits and Preparation of the International Vet Certification, air fare, and import fees. Anything more than that, then one is simply a contributor to corruption.

  2. I was always told not to bring a dog. If you want one get it in PI.They are already adapted to the climate and the environment there. Most folks I know have dogs to not so much as pets but as guard dogs kind of. They have them run in their fenced yard or have them staked up. in a place where anyone coming in would need to walk by them. Most Filipinos I met were afraid of dogs and didn’t trust barking dogs. I think the pack were looking for food Henry. Feed them and they will keep other dogs away

  3. One place in the Philippines that is very dog friendly is the city of Iloilo. Parks, dog walk areas and a lot of services catering to dog owners, no matter how big or small the dog is. Here is a link for some of services, for the Philippines its very surprising. And if you ever visit Iloilo, their a lovely group of islands called “isla gigantes” , and its under the tourist radar.

  4. I leave them leftovers and bones in the patio. It’s a win-win since putting it in the trash just attracts ants. The local dogs, cats, chickens, roosters, two turkeys and stray dogs all browse my yard thru the hole I made in gate for them. ha!
