  1. I know exactly what your talking about. Many taxis take clark to avoid traffic. I stay by friendship, if I go to Dau they always go through clark. So I have mixed feelings, its more less habit for them.

  2. It’s such a relief when you find a good, knowledgeable mechanic, they’re rare but I know that feeling when you find a guy like that. Get him in your phone book!

  3. I drove a cab here in America for about 12 years. And the company had a couple drivers that would rip customers off like that. One driver would even go as far as to steal food from people’s bags when he carried their groceries for them when they weren’t looking. He finally got busted by 2 complaints.

  4. Glad you found a Mechanic you think is trustworthy. I’ve had my share of bad ones (recently). If it’s possible to share the mechanics info/location, I could use a reliable one. Or let me know how I can contact you to get the info, appreciate it.

  5. I never understand why Filipinos who have a lower education think that white man can be conned.
Yes many foreigners here are dumb but the normal ones of us are streets ahead of them. You did right by showing him the error of his ways.

  6. WOW Philly I just had my Kia Soul having the same issues and the soul was stuck in 4th gear and had to replace the transmission here in Chicago but the mechanic was able to get a used one with 32,000 miles on it but keep in mind I already had 214,000 miles on the original factory transmission he replaced…I personally still would buy Kia…glad you finally know what’s going on…👍👍

  7. Excellent news about the car. Keeping my fingers crossed the ECU is a two board and not three. That is what is truly amazing about Filipino people. All you have to do is research and and eventually someone will lead you to that one guy who has extensive knowledge of an item. I learned years ago nothing is wasted there in the Philippines. Ninety-Nine percent of broken items is repairable. Here in the states we have gotten to use to just tossing things away and putting in a new or reconditioned part. There because items are so difficult to get or takes way to long causing inconvenience for people they simple take things apart and learn how to repair the part, reconditioning the part just as it is done if sent back to the factory, cutting out the middle man so to say. We Americans have become to spoiled and toss so much stuff away that can be saved. As for the blue taxi driver, well you know as well as I do that is an every day occurrence. I’m surprised it took the driver that long to figure out your a local and not a tourist who was an easy mark for being taken advantage of. Hoping the management had that talk with their staff and didn’t have to fire the boy. It really sucks when you have that one bad apple spoiling the barrow.

  8. In the previous video u opened by saying Monday morning was not starting good…now it appears your Tues mornings not much better….just remember, 2 mornings do not make a whole life…keep your chin up! It could be worse…u could be in FL, TX, CA, or AZ right now…I live in TX…its no cakewalk right now….with the virus!

  9. All taxi’s have “Kano tax.” “Flag down fee” are you kidding? The first thing a cabbie will do to qualify you is ask if you are visiting. Always say no I live here.

  10. Brian can you maybe explain to me about some of these expat are working from home can you tell me the type of work there talking about. Thanks for sharing

  11. As a business owner, I have heard many say exactly what you are saying. Now, as an owner I would respect that attitude in my customers, and I would never tell them what I am about to tell you now. I secretly would wish they would pull me aside and tell me if an employee was doing something to tarnish my business rep! My employees, their families and my family depend on our rep, and most would bend over backwards to give the customer the best service. One bad apple might never be found if no one didn’t tell me what was happening! If that company has always been straight with you, go see the owner. Tell him first how impressed you have always been with their service. Then tell him what happened, without any demands. I can almost guarantee he will be super happy you helped him keep a good rep!

  12. You still should’ve reported him. Like you said it only takes 1 or 2 people to bring a reputation down. And what’s to stop him from doing it to the next foreigner? He probably did this all the time until you called him out and likely still doing this. He doesnt care, it’s about the money. I know when Blue Taxi first came out, that was their selling point, it wasnt going to be like Manila. Yes times are tough (aren’t they always in the Philippines?) but people cant keep using the excuse “I’m poor”; “I’m not educated”; “I have 6 kids” to act like criminals. It’s about integrity and personal responsibility which in my experience alot of the local Filipinos can’t seem to grasp or they just dont care UNTIL they are confronted.

  13. Reminds me of the viral vlog of haley dasovich what she filmed the scammer white taxi in manila. Glad to hear you getting you car sorted. I would report the driver to what’s to say he won’t do it again.

  14. The mechanic you spoke of? Many now have to patronize him for being a ‘straight shooter’. I know all about goof and bad mechanics.
The taxi driver? The minute he saw you knew what you were talking about he should have immediately backed down. That is the biggest problem in instances like that, some just don’t know when to stand down and tend to lose a lot.

  15. Still you should have took the number of the taxi and report it. It will ruin the company if they have drivers like that. Probably he use to drive a cab in metro manila.

  16. You ask around in Angeles city and you will find out the truth about who owns the blue taxi company 😉😉
Its someone very well connected no more said 😉😉

  17. So KIA’s still selling lemons these days but more of it in Asia. These Korean manufacturers maybe take advàntage of buyers in Asia (esp. in P.I.?) because there is no or ppl don’t get together sue… That goes back to my thoughts on their new vehicles shipped to the U.S. are better just to àvoid that one reason of class action lawsuits. I thnk therefore the U.S. shipped cars are prioritized for quality.

  18. may i , suggest that you double check your new mechanic use the correct ‘ATF fluid’ for your transmission. all ATF’s fluids not the same.

  19. So proud on what you did, honesty is what we’re looking for😀I would do the same thing😀you’re still dealing with your car😩God help you🙏 take care! That happens to me in HK way back with my younger son, from Kai Tak airport to the hotel in Kowloon, US Dollars😢

  20. A good car mechanic is like a good family Doctor I hope it works out. Funny you got in the blue taxi and specifically told him the route to take and it goes in one ear out the other! Wow

  21. If they see Kano, they see profit, I remember the first year I was there some old guy was hustling taxis and told me the price, like 1K php, then I got in the taxi and the guy was like here is my price lol I was like hell no 😁 now I know the game

  22. I am delighted Brian you choose that mechanic technician. These guys are good, real hard core engine masters, not like main dealerships, they just know A B or C from their workshop manual outside of that they are lost. Anyway bring the car to them. You won’t be disappointed, I buy new cars fairly often, but I’ll tell you I stay away from main dealer mechanics, they haven’t a clue.

  23. Hello Brian, We have a new Channel for our family it is called: “M&M Life Journey”, M for Marianne and M for Michael. We are just getting started and learning fast. I will get on one of your live sessions as I am learning also. Could you please go subscribe to us please we only have 25 subscribers today. I have three children Felicity, Rhianne and Matthew so we are 5. We have 8 videos on the channel so far and they are fun videos. We will be moving to Manila before December this year currently in Reno Nevada. We have a condo in Manila.

  24. On my trips we used to use the same driver all the time. We always paid a bit extra because he was dependable. He then tried to scam us once. We did not fall for it. Never used him again and told all our friends. He suffered a big downturn in his business. There are plenty of trustworthy people there.

  25. Brian, you gave another good reason why I only use Grab, firstly Blue Taxi are more expensive and second Grab use google maps and the fee is known in advance. I have said it before, Grab is the best thing that has happened in transport in AC, I just wish it wasn’t squashed in Subic. As for reporting Filipinos in PI remember it ain’t your turf and be prepared for possible fallout, Brian did it well imo.

  26. When I lived in Cebu I had built a tricycle of which I drove often, it was registered and I did pick up passengers from time to time, but gave them free rides. One time I lightly bumped another tricycle in a circle or roundabout in Bogo City, He wanted 1,500 Pesos for his damage. I went ahead and paid him the 1,500 P cash and we were off and running. My wife told me that that was way more than it cost to fix his tiny tear on one corner of his overhead covering but I paid it anyway this was way back in 2004 or 2005. Our new Channel is “M&M Life Journey” and we have about 8 videos now and 25 subscribers it’s a family oriented channel. Videos are on all kinds of subjects like fun at home travel and so on. We are moving back to Manila Philippines later this year can’t wait for that. Condo in Manila, already paying for it now.

  27. We often used a former Jeepney driver as our driver, we had a Ford Everest in Cebu City I drove it myself often but on trips like going to SM I often used our Jeepney driver as he was a good driver and dependable.

  28. Where is your other mechanic….sounds like your other recommended mechanic is Abel from Performance Plus just passed the circle after AUF….He is my mechanic who has a diagnostic machine similar to what you described…

  29. This reminded me of the theme from “Friends”, there’s a part that goes “It’s like you’re always stuck in second gear
    – When it hasn’t been your day, your week, your month or even your year!”
