Marianne and I, two maids, three children and one of her classmates drove out to the Hagniah pier to catch the ferry to Bantayan Island. We arrived around noon with only 10 minutes to spare brfore before the ferry was due to leave for Bantayan Island so we were running back and forth getting the car registered for the trip. They had already raised the ramp partially so had to lower it for us. I was the last vehicle on the ferry and in the rush drove up the ramp head first meaning I was the only vehicle pointed in the wrong direction. This meant I had to back down the ramp at the bantayan Island pier which prooved not a big problem and I easlily got myself turned around. My maids enjoyed the trip as this was their first ever trip off the island of Cebu. As soon as we were settled in at the Sugar Brach Resort owned by the family of Marianne’s classmate we took tricycles known as trisikad into town and arrived at Larry Haydons. Restaurant, he has a great American style Pulled Pork Barbeque sandwitch with smoked pork. I had two of his sandwiches and a dish of Potato salid and it was very good. Larry has named his restaurant “Alaska” after the state he lived in.

10-30-2011 – Day One

Sugar Beach Resort is located neaqr Sta. Fe. city and is close to the street with all the restaurants in Sta Fe. It is located across the street from Marianne’s classmatge’s family’s homes, they have two and old and the new home at Sta. Fe. Sugar Beach Resort is a large resort with plenty of ocean side facilities and white sand all the way out to the waterfront. We rented an air conditioned cottage on the beach renting for 1,600 pesos per night. The cottages are a row of air conditioned cottages and are new, the interiors are neat, clean and very cool. They are nemed Blue, Red, Yellow, Green and so on.

10-31-2011 – Day Two

Today we went into Sta Fe. to eat breakfast I have Corn Flakes with fruit, 2 eggs scrambled, Bacon, Toast with Honey, a fried hot dog and Coffee for Pho 125. After this we went back to Sugar Beach resort and walked the beach. I took a nap after lunch until around 2:00 pm. At around 5:00PM we headed in to the Town of Bantayan took photos on the waterfront then headed over to Kermits Restaurant on the other side of the town square and park with Larry Haydon, his wife and Happy their son. I ordered the 1/4 pound bacon cheeseburger and larry had a cheese and beef bureto. This place has buritos, Burgrs, and a variety of other delicious ithems including apple pie alamode, and a several cakes. The evening we were there it was crowded and there was a little wait for the food, however well worth the wait. If you want a good meal for the entire family I recommend this especially for Americans and Foreigners. I believe this restaurant is owned by someone from Eurpop as it had few Filipino dishes.  Cool

11-01-2011 – Day Three

This morning we went back down to Larry’s restaurant called “Alaska” for some of Larry’s special French Toast and a Cheese Omelet, which was delicious. French toast is one of my favorite breakfast item, and it seems my kids as well, they had seconds. Larry is a culinary school graduate and excellent cook. After that we sat and talked abut miracles in the Bible and in our own lives and what the future may hold for all of us. Larry was a missionary in Hawaii in drug infested areas and at prisons. After this, I went out on the streets of Sta. Fe and took photos to be included with this post. Several businesses near Larry’s “Alaska Restaurant” stood out as exceptional and I wanted to get good photos of these restaurants and businesses in Sta. Fe. Two businesses really stood out, one is the Cou Cou Bar, Hotel and Restaurant The place looks remarkable see photos below. another was Le Petit Bonheur Restaurant and Ice cream owned by a Frenchman. The restaurant Is nippa style, lots of Bamboo, he has great Bananna Splites and several different icecream creations. In the Afternoon around 2:30 PM we headed down to Barangay Talisay where the pier and Ferry are located to head back over to Cebu. The ferry ride to Bantayan Island is aproximately a one hour trip. Once we arrived in Cebu we went over to our house in Dakit and plan to stay two more days before heading back down to Mactan Island. The total cost of transportation from and to Cebu is Php 7,000, including fuel of 2,000 for the car. We spent around Php 22,000 for everything for our 3 day vacation at Sugar Beach Resort in Sta. Fe Bantayan Island.
