The 2010 Suzuki Celerio

UPDATE: Our 2010 model Suzuki Celerio is for sale, low mileage, excellent condition, see photos of our car below.

2010 Suzuki Celerio. If you are looking into buying an economical vehicle that is it, easy on your budget, and at the right price at P 599,000. It is one of the cheapest new cars you can buy. We drove it from Lapu-Lapu over 100 kilometers up to Bogo on only 1/4 tank of gas.  iti takes about P 2,500 to fill it up. This car has front wheel drive ,a 996cc fuel injected e cylinder engine. you would call this a 1000cc engine, and it runs great. It is air conditioned which does not seem to slow it down any. I easily drive it at 100K or about 60 miles per hour which is about as fast as you want to go here due to the many obstacles and hazards on the roads.  Out on the open road you need to realize it has a tiny engine which means if it is in high gear you need to punch the accelerator pedal to cause it to downshift or you simply don’t gain any speed. However that being said I have passed numerous trucks and buses climbing the mountain passes here.  It has a sporty styled shifter for the 3 speed automatic transmission, that allows you to quickly shift between 1 2 and 3 to help you get going and up steep hills. It makes it up the steep hill going to our house in Dakit, Bogo thanks mostly to of the front wheel drive. We have had some bad luck with it though not of it’s own fault though, we were hit in November by an attorney actually I think his wife was driving and just barely hit the front bumper at our Lapu-Lapu address causing some scratches, the streets are very narrow there. And the other day a motorcyclist ran into the back due to following too close. Marianne was driving and had to stop to avoid being hit by a tricycle when he hit it. The guy ran off so we figure he had no license, and guessing from the damage to her bumper he must have broken the front fender and possibly even bent the forks as those little bikes have very thin pipe on the front forks. We plan to take it back in to the dealer to get the bumper fixed just after the holidays, but not sure what it will cost. Our deductible is P5,900 or around $160 so likely that is what it will cost to fix it. The repairs were under P 3,000 for the damage to the back end. And we had a scratch fixed when I hit a T shaped pipe once. The car continues to be an economical mode of transportation and is easy to get around the narrow roads in the sub divisions and back roads here. When we purchased it we put half down and paid payments of P20,000 for 2 years, however we plan to pay it off after only one year. It’s funny Marianne bought this car only because she liked the color, her favorite color is pink. She never even looked inside the car. However I told her not to worry you ended up choosing a good car. However it is fragile thin steel and lack of support in the event of a rear end collision, but better than a motorcycle I guess and repairs are cheap also.

MECHANICAL PROBLEM – This is our first mechanical problem we have had with this car. Marianne was driving the other day and started complaining that the breaks were feeling really soft and the peddle was going all the way to the floor but no sign of leaks. The next day the brakes worked again so we took it in to Suzuki dealer in Cebu City for repairs. They found the problem, it was caused by one brake shoe that had become stuck and had overheated causing the fluid to get hot and the loss of peddle action. They repaired a rough spot that had caused the brake mechanism to stick. This was covered as part of our new vehicle warranty.

Suzuki Celerio Engine, 660cc 3 cylinder, runs great, plenty of power for this small car. This one has a slightly modified air intake not the standard one ours has but the rest is the same. Notice easy access to oil dip stick and fuse box.

Suzuki Interior, makes you think you are driving a larger car.  Lighting is in Red

  1. Hi, that is a nice short review of the car. I have one in white, its a perky motor for its size. This car never came with a 660cc engine, it’s a 998cc 3cylinder engine, Suzuki K10B to be precise.
