  1. Excellent testimonial to your travel reports. Sounds like they based their long trip on them. And the photos are great, as always. You know I have only heard that KL is boring, maybe for 20 yr olds on reddit, but now I’m intrigued after this guy’s description, plus that apartment at 8:12 and 10:54 is unbelievable.

    1. Hi Formica, The apartment was where Qiang Hui and I often stay when we are in KL. There is a link to it on the KL retire cheap report. Thanks for commenting. Dan

  2. Malaysia is cooler weather-wise than Thailand? I thought it would be the the other way around, since it is closer to the ecuator, is this true? Why? The temperature had me worried about visiting Malaysia.

    1. I love Colombia and Argentina too. Yes, people in developing countries display fewer assumptions of entitlement. They seem to enjoy life at a more basic level … time with friends and family .. rather than trying to keep upwith the Jones.

    2. I would be more tempted to compare the weather in individual places in each country rather than think of countries as a whole. The location in terms of elevation and distance from the ocean may be a greater influence than distance from the equator in some cases. Just compare the weather in each destination to the others you are interested in. My reports cover that. ๐Ÿ™‚

    3. @Gipsy Dean I haven’t either. It is one of the most amazing places in the world. I have been to Buenos Aires, Mendoza And Salta but I was only 15 years old last time I was there. Would love to go some day to Argentina. I love Colombia too. Big Argentine influence in Medellin with Tango and Carlos Gardel loving Medellin a lot as one of his favorite performing venues. The Economist.Doug Casey says nothing like being rich and living in a “developing” country. The people in developing countries are the best usually according to Casey. I tend to agree with him. I live in NYC and the people I get along with best tend to be from “developing” countries. Regards

  3. This Isn’t All Fun & Games. Many Otherwise Healthy Seniors Take Daily Medications For Heart & Diabetes Problems. They Can Probably Carry A Years Worth Of Meds With Them But Meds Can’t Be Mailed Overseas. So You Need To Find Out In Each Country That You are Recommending For Retirement If Common Prescription Medications Are Available With Or Without A Local Prescription At A Public Pharmacy.

    1. True. And pharmacists around the world are trained in English. So you could get a referral to a pharmacist on the Facebook page for expats on that city and email them you questions in advance. You would want a local doctor eventually though to monitor your health.

  4. Ubi2020 for happy travels and happy retirement. First major U.S presidential candidate that adopts Yangs UBI plan gets all my applause and endorsement. Saludos. Happy travels

  5. We all know that food served in shotty conditions (street food or homes converted to restaurants) is not expensive in the developing world. However, first the food quality is often bad due to heavy use of chemicals and lack of regulatory controls. Anytime you dine in a modern facility with AC and nice comfortable conditions you will pay much higher yet the service is often subpar. You also talk about using buses and motorbikes (both are dangerous) as part of your budget. So in fact the lower costs of living are NOT due to the prices but the fact that you are lowering your living standards (taking buses and motorbikes increases your chance of injury and death) by taking buses, eating at substandard places (which increases your chance of food poisoning), etc. I can eat a large meal in the USA every day of the week for a price that Asia cannot touch. For instance, I can eat a 2 piece chicken meal with biscuit and one side for $2 and so on. I can also eat at the Golden Corral buffett for $12. This would cost double the price for what you get in Asia. There is no such thing as a cheap price for something anywhere in the world once you adjust for all factors. This is a fact. I’ve lived in Asia for many years, and not as a 2 week tourist, but as an expat. I’m also a professional economist so I probably know what I’m talking about. Again, you are not paying less because prices are lower in Asia. You are LOWERING YOUR LIVING STANDARDS. This is a fact.

    1. Not everyone can thrive outside their home country. John might be one of them. We can’t all travel. Personally, I am glad not everyone travels or experiences the world. It would not be as interesting if there were as many foreigners in these places as locals.

    2. You get what you pay for… But John Doe see what standard of living you can get in the USA on $1000 a month if you don’t own your home and have to rent! You are wrong!

    1. @Vagabond Awake Boring? Yes. I was making a point that food costs should not be a reason to move to SE Asia. No doubt life in SE Asia is more exciting than the USA. This is one of the points you might focus on in the future. Forget the costs. Daily life is more exciting in SE Asia hands down. But it’s not without its own issues.

    2. @Vagabond Awake Not at all. I’m just being realistic. If you aren’t aware of the heavy use of chemicals in the food in Asia you should do some investigation. The situation in Vietnam is really bad. USA has many issues notable to natural-borne Americans. But living overseas for years has also given me an appreciation for things the USA offers that you won’t find elsewhere. Let’s remember that there must be some good reasons why millions of people from all over the world are risking their lives to get into the USA. It remains a fact that most everyone from around the world would love to live in the USA. And if you don’t have enough to survive in the USA you’ve not taken advantages of the endless opportunities.

    3. “real safety standards, real law enforcement, freedoms and rights.” There are over 180 countries in the world John. Are you being nationalistic here John?

    4. Sounds boring to me John. Golden Corral Buffet for $12? But you are entitled to your opinion. I rather have a nice Thai or Vietnamese dish and take a walk on a white sand beach than eat at a buffet and walk in the mall. Luckily there is a place in the world for everyone. I would appreciate if you would try to type each comment separately instead of pasting the same comment in multiple videos. Criticism I like, laziness … not so much. The truth is … many people will live and die within 100 miles of the same spot. I am not one of them. Best, Dan

    5. @Gipsy Dean I’m not wrong. You are. Who has the credibility here? All views are not created equal, son. Come back at me once you have obtained a graduate degree in economics and have lived in Asia for several years.

  7. We are going to retire there also. Maybe in CDO I need Military base Hospital near by. We are thinking 2 bedroom and 2 Bath . Have u have any experience with That . My Ely loves to cook at home some Are if u know where the Milarty Base Hospitals are and open .
