    1. @Alias1983 Taiwan is ignoring or whitewashing the issue with politically correct nonsense about how great TW is, only makes racism worse, TWs systemized racism needs to be brought to light not swept under the rug in order to protect minorities. The stereotyping and racial degrading of darker skinned Asians has to stop.

    5. @This is Taiwan quick question. Saying two people in Taiwan on the streets end up in a physical conflict. One is a foreigner and the other a Taiwanese. In a fist fight between two people, will other people that just happen to be nearby drop whatever they are doing, form a flash mob, and swarm the foreigner?

    5. @Chen 態度不同，一個可同情，另一個有點可惡。說起來我也認識一位叫做Martin的英國人，娶了事業有成的台灣人，自己卻跟廢物一樣一事無成，常抱怨台灣的種種也拒絕學中文。後來我們把他從朋友圈中狠狠地踢出去，從此不聯絡！妳媽媽認識的那位不會是他吧？！

    3. depends. if you’re in southern California, you could always hang with asians. my parents are like that especially mom doesn’t even know or speak one ounce of English yet she still managed to survive in america for 40+ years because all the people she hangs with are chinese/taiwanese and they speak chinese. talk about NOT getting out of your comfort zone.

  18. 我們中國大陸不一樣，外國人很難在我們這邊留下來，因為很難得到工作簽證。旅遊簽證可以，但錢要足夠。只有職業經理人，公司高管，企業外派，僱傭，高技術人才，創業者等，才容易得到工作簽或者幾率長期簽證，還要辦理居住證，別一年一簽，有幾率拒簽，辦不了工作簽證，沒辦法獲得工作，也不容易辦理到居住證。所以自由選擇，非法打工，面臨風險，嚴重會被遣送，永久拒簽……！！講白歡迎任何有技術，有理想創業，有夢想，正能量，有才藝的外國人。因為我們不是移民國家，有暴力傾向，種族歧視，吸毒人員，有強姦前科人員，喜歡玩政治人員，和間諜等等負面人員最好不要到我們中國大陸，因為這邊審判非常嚴厲，還有同性戀雖然不是禁止，但是和我們文化有衝突，所以可能遭受歧視。以上和所謂的人權無關，這是我們傳統文化觀念，不喜誤評論，謝謝！還有一點安檢較多，較嚴格！

    臺灣需要歡迎各種社會階層的外國人，才有可能進步，實現真正的國際化！
    不該像某個人說只需歡迎專業人士，因為他已拿到免死金牌，真的很自私！
    俗語說：行行出狀元，每個職業都有其專業及必要性，不應該被歧視矮化！
    政府單位對所謂的專業人士的定義也有爭議，臺灣的藝人根本沒專業可言！

    1. Maybe just a little. So far, there has only been one confirmed case in Taiwan, and that person was quarantined and sent back to Mainland China. If it starts spreading, then I might be a bit more concerned, especially as they have no cure for it yet.

  35. 我大概能理解第二點在說什麼，台灣是個大熔爐，包容性很強，無論是哪個文化曾經來過都會留下些什麼，並且用台灣的風格延續下去，雖然歧視一定每個地方多少都有，但台灣已經算很輕微的了

As someone who’s self taught and have been living in Taiwan for 3 years now, it drives me mad knowing I can talk somewhat normally with mainland Chinese but I really, really struggle to understand the Taiwanese accent. I know all the quirks that it has, but actively listening and understanding it has been endlessly frustrating. Doesn’t help that nearly all learning material for Mandarin available digitally is from China. All I can do is watch Taiwanese videos on YouTube and pray it will eventually click.

  41. I don’t believe that someone in a Chinese-speaking country doesn’t say a single Chinese word. A Brit friend went to China for two weeks, the first thing he learned: 来瓶啤酒!

  42. Great video! Couldn’t agree more. This year will be my third time going to Taiwan and I have to say the last two years completely different experiences. I kinda cheat when in Taiwan because my wife is from there. So, we can travel throughout the country and see family or friends. I have taken solo trips to kaohsiung. But I’m really happy to have her with me when in the country.

    所以想來台灣的人要考慮這些缺點在決定要不要來台灣
    但影片並不是以台灣的缺點為考量去決定要不要來台灣
    而是對於自己本身的包容以及接受去做考量
    我覺得很多事情皆是如此
    看到某件事情的缺點或令你討厭的地方
    你就會不想去做
    但這世界上有太多的不完美
    你內心的烏托邦是不存在的
    事實的本質無法改變
    如果你期望著別人去做改變
    那還不如先改變自己的觀點

    身為一個台灣人 影片所說的不適合的點我都有
    拒絕學習新事物 固執己見 看來我也不適合住在台灣

  66. 中文的說方面決不會比英文或日文難，只有文字比較難。外國人可能覺得沒必要學就可以在台灣生活，自然也不會特別想學。而影片中拍攝到的傳統事物，也不見得都是台灣人生活的一部分，台灣年輕人很多也挺洋派的，傳統的東西其實也很少接觸了。

    台灣四十年前到現在，有泰國，越南，菲律賓，波蘭，烏克蘭。。。。

  75. 不喜歡挑戰新事物 不喜歡踏出舒適圈 固執到不接受別國文化
    基本上這不管是哪一國人 去到哪一個國家 都不容易被接受

    雖然你話可能講得很漂亮 但這種人就是標準的魯蛇而已
    沒必要特別拿台灣出來講 讓人感覺你是在消費台灣

  81. 絕大多數會想來台灣的外國人已經是很開放了。只有極少的人不太合適，畢竟廟宇、原住民這種深度一些的文化很吸引西方世界的人，至於踏出舒適圈，我想他們真的踏過來就不想踏回去了，歐洲或是美洲都沒台灣這麼舒適便利，想想看他們的網路或是交通以及密集的24小時服務業。美食的部分真的是因人而異，紅豆在西方世界通常都是拿來煮鹹食，基於原生文化的飲食習慣，有些事是勉強不來的。
    這裡不是要硬捧台灣有多棒，台灣跟一些歐洲國家還是不能比的，人民的素養及環保等還是比不上，但若是外國人來台喜歡這片土地的人們，通常還比台灣土生土長的人還愛台灣，去一趟東部吧！你會發現很多新住民身體力行的去愛台灣。

Thanks. BTW, according to polls, less than 10% of Taiwanese consider themselves Chinese. I believe, to most of the people like Taiwan one of the reasons is just because Taiwan is not China. Just looks at some videos about this scary Corona Virus epidemic, one can see the huge differences in these 2 cultures.

  87. Well done! It’s good to challenge yourself by stepping out of your comfort zone and adopting different culture, people and backgrounds. Taiwan is a great country to live and also for people are willing to learn and promote the unique Taiwanese culture.

  91. I totally agree with your opinion about studying the local language. I am a Taiwanese who live in the U.S. for more than 15 years, and I found that while my English was getting better, I felt happier here. Language is the key to access any culture and its core values; without it, you sure would miss out on the best part of a nation. There is no good reason to stop yourself from learning and earning better access in your life and your future.

    And I am so glad that you mentioned that local people have no responsibility to learn their language, although people would try to be as helpful as possible. I have lived in the U.S. so long, most people here are very nice and reasonable. However, every once a while, I still get a chance to listen to some unwise people to complain about people who don’t speak English when they travel abroad… That annoyed me badly. They are unprepared to have some basic ability to communicate but blaming on others not speaking their native language… duh… That’s not very nice and in fact… dumb.

  94. 學不學得好中文，或是願不願意學中文，對我而言只是一個加分，個人認為品格和行為是更為重要的！遇到補習班或在路上的一些是英國人，南非人… 某些人還會種族歧視欺負補習班的小孩子，過去跟他理論還跟我嗆說你們台灣人園長是會相信妳的話，還是相信我的話？妳們台灣人就是愛我老外啊！氣死我了！吼！永遠忘不了那嘴臉… 不然就是英國人半禿頭老師上課中一邊改作業，一邊釣妹仔說，不要拒絕我嘛~ 一堆老外，喝醉酒就在巷子裡亂尿尿！教他們去哪裡哪裡可以借到廁所再尿尿，居然回說：我聽見你的話了，但我不想去做，有夠圈叉…. 還有一堆濫交，駡髒話，英國人喝醉酒酒駕還紅燈右轉被警察抓，看見黑人騎機車逆向行駛，不戴安全帽的，還硬裝聽不懂中文的… 還有遇過，加拿大人要離開台灣了，要賣我二手機車，居然還要我們好心的監理所大哥，跟我提醒說，他停車費罰款還沒有繳，想賴給妳，妳要留意哦~台灣政府收到了一堆屎尿！台灣土地怎麼小，怎麼不好好每次/每年/經常評估篩選後，再發入場卷？！

    我們這些學習算認真的，出社會薪水低，服侍這類的死老外，薪資偏低，還要被瞧不起，社會環境被他們亂搞，真的覺得… … …

  95. 其實不止台灣，任何外國人到當地國而不學習當地國語言，不僅不智而且失禮，這些人無法自在地用當地語言與當地人交流，甚至平時交談的笑點都因聽不懂而喪失趣味性，這樣根本不適合留在當地國。

    台灣有個政黨的人從1949年來台灣然後完全不願學台語的大有人在，而且他們會在世界各國成立China Town.而且不會當地國語言。然後說別人排擠他們，是我我都想排擠那些人了！所以說，某些個性的人適合某些國家，真的是一點也沒錯

  97. The life & culture is great, it is the heat I have an issue with. Now, the 2012 summer was not the best time to be intruded to Taiwan, if one has a heat issue. I found the ppl to be very friendly, & why mr 2nd wife was from Taiwan – lost the first one of 17 years to cancer in 2011 – so cute and full of energy. I just wish Taiwan was recognized by more countries, & China – known for corruption – would release it totally.

  100. 但是我常常遇到固執己見的白人…
    印象最深的兩次，一次是家裡附近的小公園，我們晚上都有狗聚，因為都是老鄰居了，幾乎都不繫狗繩，有一次一位白人旅客帶著小孩來玩溜滑梯，一直對我們吼為什麼我們不繫狗繩，然後我們無奈的笑著把狗都繫起來等他的小孩玩完再來給狗放鬆，結果又罵我們在笑什麼…我們心裡都是無奈…
    另一次是帶著小孩跟狗狗去吃早餐，但是因為我家狗還有狩獵本能，看到對街有小貓，下意識直接激動起來，繩子絆到小孩，小孩在馬路中間跌倒，我很生氣就把狗綁在公園旁（早餐店也在公園附近）然後打了狗狗的屁股一下，居然有個白人大吼:I don’t wanna see it again.因為我當下必須趕回去顧小孩，就直接無視他。

    我對外國人可以很友善，但是不分青紅皂白亂罵人、自以為優越的白人，真的讓人很討厭。
